MAS HINO
Born in Japan, raised in America.
The identity of a luthier/bass and guitar builder living as a Japan-US hybrid.
After the interview, when I aimed the camera at him, Hino struck a pose with the innocent glee of a child. He was open and conversational, treating everyone— whether they were colleagues at his workplace, his wife, or those of us meeting him for the first time—with equal warmth. In New York, known as the world's largest racial melting pot, a culture of embracing "individuality" transcending race and occupation has been ingrained and perpetuated across generations, fostering the constant evolution of new cultural expressions.
However, Hino communicates through his very existence, saying, "You don't have to think so rigidly about expressing 'individuality'." It seems that Hino's story, too, will be passed on to future generations, continuing to be inherited.
